About Pochen Strings

Pochen Strings was founded in 2018 by a group of passionate cello teachers and children. The German word ‘Pochen’ is equivalent to the English word ‘Pulse’, which has the triple meanings of beating, rhythm and perseverance, and Pochen Strings hopes to enrich children's musical cultivation by introducing them to the wonderful world of classical music through a variety of musical activities.

Pochen Strings was formed just four months ago and won a Silver Award in the Small Group Ensemble category of the 2019 Hong Kong Joint Schools Music Competition. The band members were only 7-8 years old at the time, making them the youngest competitors in the programme. In the summer of 2020, Pochen Strings won another Silver Award in the Hong Kong Joint Schools Music Competition in the Group Ensemble category!

Pochen Strings has been actively involved in various performance activities and will be performing at venues such as the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE), Hong Kong Disneyland (HKD), Ocean Park (OPC) and Zero Carbon Place (ZCP) from 2020 to 2022. This year, Pochen Strings has been invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) to perform at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2023.

The orchestra had originally planned to travel out of Hong Kong to Munich, Germany in 2020 for music exchange, masterclasses and public performances, but the programme has been suspended due to the epidemic. We hope that the trip will take place in the near future, so that our members can acquire knowledge in various artistic fields and develop in a holistic manner.
